Description
I am using Latest MPlayer (SVN-r29443-3.4.3) on my RHEL machine for receiving Mpeg2 Transport Streams from my own RTSP Server. My Server application stops streaming and closes all ports used once the EOF is reached, But some how MPlayer hangs at that time. I had to press "Ctrl+c" two times to return back to the linux prompt. Please note that I havent used RTCP in my server. This same behaviour I have seen with Live555 Media server also. I have also checked with Smplayer (0.6.7 SVN r2831) on windowsXP using both of the servers but the observation was same, I had to kill the process from Task Manager.

this might be fixed now that mplayer has a tcp timeout.
if you stream over udp you might need the udp timeout patch...
