Description

I had problems using MPlayer to playback DTS in passthrough mode and was told to
use -ac hwdts. This one wasn't in my codecs.conf and didn't work until I copied
the etc/codecs.conf from recent CVS over my ~/.mplayer/codecs.conf. On the
search for where this is I found out that MPlayer is supposed to notice through
the release= line that my config is outdated and fallback to the internal. This
did not happen and I got no warning.

No, it only warns with very old versions (somewhen before 2003).
Remove all codecs.conf from your system, they are not needed any more and you're
not supposed to have them unless you really know what you are doing.
