Description

When playing an avi file, mplayer behaves properly while gmplayer crashes.
Versions used: mplayer-1.0-0.lvn.0.30.pre7try2.4 and
mplayer-gui-1.0-0.lvn.0.30.pre7try2.4 from the livna repository.
Distribution: Fedora core 4.

No CVS tests done: Systems tested are production systems... sorry.

gmplayer then exits, leaving a forked gmplayer process active forever and the
movie window (with the mplayer logo) open. The control window is black. tty as
been set to -echo -icanon.

Note this may be a duplicate of bug report #93, but codecs are not the same.
This error occurs on several different configurations.

I can send the movie for tests on request (3Mb).

Don't know, I hate the GUI code, but I think it crashes when it tries to display
the error/warning message.
Maybe renaming the file to .mpg will help (because this is _not_ an AVI file!).

Right !!! Many thanks.
OK with a .mpeg extension.
Maybe gmplayer should protect itself against such misnaming... because most
movie player users (like me) do not know a lot about codecs/file
formats/suffixes, etc.
I do not change this bug status, because of the above suggestion (and the
reality of the crash!). Please feel free to recatalog it according to your
feelings.

Not sure it is fixed, I just know it works for me with CVS version. So unless
someone can reproduce it with CVS (reopen in this case), I won't spend my time
on this.
