Description

There is a small error in the MPlayer docs.

In Section
6.1.1. MPEG files
it says

One important feature of MPGs is that they have a field to describe the
aspect ratio of the video stream within. For example SVCDs have 480x480
resolution video, and in the header that field is set to 4:3, so that it
is played at 640x480. AVI files do not have this field, so they have to
be rescaled during encoding or played with the -aspect option.

This is not strictly true, as at least AVI files containing MPEG-4 video
( a fairly common case ;-) ) can contain aspect ratio information
(see chapter 12.9. Preserving aspect ratio).

So I propose to add a sentence of the paragraph:

One important feature of MPGs is that they have a field to describe the
aspect ratio of the video stream within. For example SVCDs have 480x480
resolution video, and in the header that field is set to 4:3, so that it
is played at 640x480. AVI files do not have this field, so they have to
be rescaled during encoding or played with the -aspect option.

An exception are AVI files containing an MPEG-4 video stream, which
can contain its needed aspect ratio. See chapter 12.9., "Preserving
aspect ratio" for details.
