Description
I'm using MPlayer under Windows (2000 at the moment).
I have a widescreen notebook with 1680x1050 resolution (hp Compaq nw8440).
I wanted to watch an avi ripped from a TV movie (320x240), I've set
monitorpixelaspect=1
in the config.
I also had subtitles, and didn't want them restricted to the movie area. I needed -vf expand, so the subtitles would display in fewer rows (as earlier when the picture was stretched).
I used
vf=expand=:::::1.6:4
in my config (the last number is because the black area on the sides had these morphing, blurry squares otherwise - in some other cases).
Unfortunately the black area is never refreshed, so the fragments of the earlier subtitles always remain on the sides, leaving more and more irritating, sometimes flickering rubbish behind.
The same thing happens entering the setting from the command line as well, of course.

wokraround: try using -ass and the ass subtitle renderer :)
especially with -ass-use-margins
(might have to use svn mplayer)
When trying to submit a screenshot, I just realized this happens only when MPlayer uses hardware acceleration. If I use 2 MPlayer instances simultaneously only the first one has the bug.
