Description
Mplayer does not seem to support MKV files, where some chapters reside in external files.
See example on the linked URL, the opening and ending of the MKV version are in separate files, and should play automatically, but mplayer just seems to skip them.
Tested with debian-multimedia.org mplayer-nogui package 1.0.rc2svn20071207-0.3

Updated the link to a working example
See the notes on ordered chapters. Episodes 6+ use them and are an example of it not working with mplayer.
also on windows http://haali.su/mkv/ can be used in conjunction with some players to get ordered chapters to work.

There is already linked/ordered chapters support in matroska splitter in this git: http://repo.or.cz/w/mplayer.git
Maybe apply this patches to upstream mplayer?
