Description
When playing a dual layer DVD in MPlayer, the transition between layers is very
harsh, to the point where it doesn't make sense watching DVDs with MPlayer. The
DVD will play smoothly until the transition, then the video will freeze and the
audio will skip for a good 5 or more seconds. Once it's recovered, the DVD
continues to play smoothly. I have tried larger buffers and no buffer, neither
of which seemed to fix the issue. I have reproduced this on 2 separate
computers running Squeeze, one of which has an SATA blu ray drive and the other
which has an IDE DVD burner.
I reported the version to 1.0rc3, since that's the version in the package name. I am running Debian Squeeze using the Debian Multimedia repository for MPlayer, which has more up to date packages, and it has a subversion number in the package name, so I think it's a rather recent snapshot. The package information is here. (http://debian-multimedia.org/dists/testing/main/binary-amd64/package/mplayer.php)
When browsing other bugs, I noticed suggestions to try dvdnav://. When I use that, the harsh transition goes away. I'm not sure if that invalidates this bug, or just moves it to a lower priority.
