Mplayer crash in Smplayer .80.

Anyway.. I experience crashes playing videos in Smplayer Version .80. Latest one. The video file is part of a project for my Engineering class at college. Anytime, the video finishes it halts. Finally when Windows decides to kill the program, it produces a screeching sound that can only be fixed by a reboot. I may have to find another video player. I downloaded the latest mplayer binary and replaced that with my installation mplayer directory that is located in Smplayer .80 folder. It didn't resolve my problem. I have had this problem with mplayer for 3 months and since it says Mplayer crashed. I reported it here. If I am wrong to report this as an issue, or the latest mplayer isn't to be extracted to that location as stated above. Smplayer bug thread said to report all problems with mplayer here as they have no development with it on their own page. Apologies.

Disregard that Exit code. I get this error when trying to open recent video files in smplayer which that program states that mplayer has crashed with a popup box stating the exit code.

Ups, this one got quite old without a reply. Can you provide a (partial) sample file? It looks like MPlayer does not like the audio.
Also just trying to play it without all those options that SMPlayer adds is a good idea.
Also -demuxer lavf might be worth a try.
