mplayer has problems with splitting some mp4 files

First, here's a torrent to a file that exhibits the bug:

You can also retrieve this file via xdcc from a bot over at #huzzah@… (see the channel topic for the bot name and pack number).

Essentially, mplayer chokes while splitting the file and begins "double playing" the audio. If I play the same file using ffplay, or if I remux it using mkvmerge and play it using mplayer, it works fine.

Not for me, it doesn't "double play" the audio, but instead it pauses every 2 seconds for a duration 2 seconds.
