1) Showing the OSD when MPlayer is paused

You can configure a key with the prefix pausing toggle in combination with osd_show_progression in input.conf. Examples:

b pausing_toggle osd_show_progression

# or rebind the pause key(s)
p     pausing_toggle osd_show_progression
SPACE pausing_toggle osd_show_progression
