#1415 new defect

Character orientation of vertical subtitles are incorrect

Reported by: bailey@… Owned by: reimar

Description

I have a mkv video which displays some subtitles vertically (the language is Japanese), but the orientation of the characters are turned clockwise 90 degrees. It's like reading the title on the binding of a book, at least in English, you have to tilt your head to read it.

I'm using mplayer-1.0_rc2_p28450 on Gentoo.

please rip the .ass and post it so we can test.

mkvextract or other program should be able to do it.

libass does not support the "@font" feature, which is required to get proper vertical rendering of CJK characters.
I haven't looked at the whole thing in depth, but this probably won't be easy to add and it will take a while, but it definitely is a must-have feature. Sorry.
