MPlayer fails to decode growing FLV files

Description
Sometimes I open FLV files my webbrowser is currently downloading in mplayer. Unfortunately if the given file is not fully downloaded MPlayer will stop playing it upon encountering its initially calculated end (which is in fact moving).
I wonder if it's possible to make MPlayer play such growing files.
