On MBR mms:// streams only first audio/video track is playable

If you stream a multi bit rate mms file, you can't select which audio and/or
video track you want to play, only the first (and in this case low quality) one
get selected.

I was not able to make it work with -bandwidth, -vid, -aid or combination of
these ones.

This was reported to me on IRC by an user on Windows, so it's not Linux specific.

Anyone have any idea about it?
Looks like MPlayer have some code to do stream selection based on bitrate and
bandwith.

I am the IRC reporter, using HTTP doesnt help, it just will stream the whole
file and then just play the audio if I give it a bandwidth argument (under MMS
the bandwidth arguemnt is ignored).

Hi,

The problem is still in mplayer, and it is not a question of just selecting the
first stream; in my case it selects streams 3 and 6, which are the
lowest-quality audio/video streams.

Running on Fedora Core 4 (2.6.12) on Pentium M, I get the following output for
the example address; using -vid 4 just makes mplayer stall indefinitely after
"Auto-selected ASF audio ID = 3":

As I said, it is only fixed for ​http://, not mms:// (you are trying to play mms:
WMS.dr.dk/storage/Ung/Boogie/Angora/angora_2_22.wmv).
It works if you use ​http://... (not the playlist!).
