Description

hi,

recently many anime fansubber groups started to use mkv and soft-subtitles. i
mean they put the subtitle as a separate track into the mkv file.

they are also using some advanced subtitle features, like positioning and color.

mplayer ignores those...

could it be anhanced to support them?

i'll attach some screenshots i made in windows and in linux, as motivation ;))

It seems there is some work going on in that area, though very slowly (and
adding colour would be a lot of work)

yes, i'm also glad that there's some progress..
i assume you're talking about these:

http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.mplayer.devel/23925

would be nice to have them reviewed/applied ;)

i got the video from which i made the screenshots..

45seconds long, 23mb.
http://nekomancer.net/honey.mkv

should i attach it there? ( i don't think so)..or maybe upload it to the
mplayerhq ftp archive?

the matroska people also have an mkv file having positioned (ass) subtitles:

I think uploading might be a good idea, but be sure to create a .txt file with a
description of the problem, otherwise t might get deleted.

Thanks for the information, though I personally have little time and interest in
subtitle things. But maybe somebody else can make use of it.

uploaded the video file to mplayer-ftp/incoming (honey.mkv, honey.avi)

Resolution: fixed
Status: newclosed

At least the matroska sample works fine with SVN and -ass, so closing.
