X11 error: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter)

Reported by: carl@… Owned by: reimar
Priority: normal Component: vo
Version: HEAD Severity: normal
Keywords: Cc: compn
Blocked By: Blocking:
Reproduced by developer: no Analyzed by developer: no

Description

this works:
ssh to box, $ startx -e mplayer spincake.avi

Once X has shut down:
ssh to box, $ startx

This will crash,
ssh to box, $ DISPLAY=:0 mplayer spincake.avi

But a 2nd attempt it will work.
after that it seems random. about 1 in 3 crash. Just hitting up arrow, enter,
wait for clip to end or crash, repeate. very strange.

each time mplayer errors, this gets dumped to the terminal I ran startx:
