Description

Currently, mplayer does recodnize the IDIT ("Digitization Time") chunks in the
input .avi files, but there does not seem to be any way to put an IDIT chunk in
the .avi file produced by mencoder.

It would be very nice to:
a) Have an option to copy the IDIT from the input file to the output file
(provided both are .avi, of course)
b) Have an option to put a specific digitization time string into the output
.avi file (may be -info should know about an extra field?)

In presence of (b), (a) can probably be omited, provided there is
c) Some way of extracting the IDIT string w/o having to use mplayer with bunch
of -v options.

Thanks a lot!

I've also filed a similar request agaist the Image-ExifTool perl module (which can extract IDIT fields from .avi, but can not write them) - http://www.cpanforum.com/threads/4178 . So far I do not know of any Linux toold capable of writing IDIT fields in .avi files, which is quite pianful for me :-( Any pointers would be greatly appreciated...

Resolution: wontfix
Status: newclosed

Most likely no new features will be added to mencoder anymore, the right place to look/request is FFmpeg now.
